Joint Declaration of the 3 Fora on the Preservation and Promotion of the Mediterranean Diet in the Adriatic and Ionian Region: Well-being, Sustainability and Culture

On May 14th, in Split, Croatia, after the Annual General Assembly of the Forum of the Chambers of Commerce of the Adriatic and Ionian (Forum AIC), President Sabatini, along with representatives from the Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Cities and UniAdrion (Association of the Universities of the Adriatic and Ionian Region), signed the Split Declaration on the Preservation and Promotion of the Mediterranean Diet in the Adriatic and Ionian Region: Well-being, Sustainability and Culture.

The joint declaration, recognizes the Mediterranean Diet as a dietary model closely connected to the culture and traditions of the communities in the Adriatic-Ionian Macroregion. It commits the networks of chambers of commerce, cities, and universities to promote and protect the richness of the Mediterranean Diet through an integrated and collaborative approach. This commitment translates into concrete actions, such as recognizing its cultural values, involving the private sector to ensure product quality, promoting cultural events and gastronomic festivals, and raising awareness about its adoption. Additionally, it aims to support sustainable agricultural practices and responsible consumption to preserve the environment and biodiversity of the Macroregion. The document also includes promoting quality standards for Mediterranean Diet products and collaborating with the tourism sector to promote it as a tourist attraction.
