AIC Forum representative at the international conference on Cultural routes

International workshop “The Cultural Routes of the Olive Tree” as a model for Europe’s values, heritage and sustainable development was held in Mali Lošinj, Croatia from 14th until the 16th of November.

The conference was held in the framework of the Croatian Chairmanship of the Council of Europe and of the Central European Initiative, in cooperation with the Croatian Ministry of Tourism and the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes.

Three workshops were held during the conference and the AIC Forum representative, Nataša Bušić, presented the Forum activities during the second workshop named “Integrated tools for local development and sustainable tourism”. Bušić highlighted the importance of the dissemination of pressure from overcrowded destinations by creating new tourist products in less known and recently discovered destinations.

The conference discussed innovative approaches promoting European cultural heritage, sustainable tourism and local development through certified Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, Cultural Route projects and local stakeholders.

Croatia is currently crossed by 8 Cultural Routes: the Routes of the Olive Tree, the Phoenicians’ Route, Saint Martin of Tours Route, Iter Vitis, the European Cemeteries Route, the European Route of Historical Thermal towns, ATRIUM and Destination Napoleon.
