Broad success for the First Joint Conference of the Forum of Chambers of Commerce, Cities and Universities of the Adriatic and Ionian, held in Split from 16 to 18 October 2018 and organized in collaboration with the Croatian Chamber of Economy and the Municipality of Split. The event, which saw the involvement of over 300 participants and 120 institutions from the 8 countries of the MacroRegion, is part of the activities of the AI-NURECC initiative.

Articulated in the two sessions “People on the Move” and “Region on the move”, the plenary session entitled “Roots and path – past, present and future for the Adriatic-Ionian Region” saw the succession of 13 speakers who analyzed the various forms mobility of workforce, students and tourists and the impact it has on the structure and characteristics of the working population, GDP, productivity, employment and other economic and social aspects of life.

Large participations were also recorded at the Thematic Workgroups, held in the afternoon of 17: Blue Growth, Connecting the Region, Environmental Quality/Agriculture, and Sustainable Tourism were the themes of the Workgroups, in line with the EUSAIR pillars, to which are added those on Female Entrepreneurship, Social Challenges and Economic Analysis, consistent with the transversal priorities of the Strategy. For the first time, the Workgroups were jointly coordinated, with a winning combination, from the AIC Forum and from Uniadrion. 

This first Annual Event is an important forward in building and consolidating relations among civil society, local, regional, national and European institutions..
